Midtown Sacramento has many pockets of great restaurants, shopping, and places to live but the Handle District stands out above the rest for being so densely populated that over 33 businesses thrive in just one square block — surrounded by 18th, 19th and L and Capitol.
The project scope for this website is on the small side, but it has many features and functions packed into a few number of pages. Features include a media/press section, interactive map, events list, agendas & minutes listing and a business directory.
The Handle District is home to some of our team’s favorite eateries: The Rind, Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates (Salted Caramel Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches!!), The Press, Zocolo, and some excellent breweries and coffee shops like Old Soul, Fieldwork, and Big Stump.
Handle District provided us with excellent photos to utilize on the site, and our responsibility was to choose colors and layout style to compliment the images. We choose the yellow gold color because it nicely offset the images but were inspired to choose the gold because at night, the Handle District has a beautifully lit warm and vibrant quality.
Simple, well designed and easy to navigate websites are always our number one goal. This site packs a lot of information on each page, but we separated out the text and utilized simple animations and visual assets to make the content easy to digest and beautiful on the page.
